We enjoy walking outside and enjoying all the sights, sounds and smells of summer!

A day at the spray park with my older tinies and one of my little nieces. |
Given how long it took for summer to arrive here in the Lower Mainland, we have jumped in, cannon ball style straight into the deep end of summer fun. Every day, we are outside and when its time to go in for bedtime, my inner voice is echoing the tinies moans of "awwwww, Mum? Already?" and then once they're sleeping, I'm on our back deck, exhausted, counting new freckles.
We spend our days swimming usually. My five year old learned how to swim this summer and the sight of her in her goggles - well, it just makes me shout with laughter.
My nearly-three-year-old is absolutely fearless in the water and flings himself in, belly flop, coming up sputtering and laughing. And Evelynn is usually along for the ride.
This has been my favourite summer so far because the tinies are really able to run and play and swim. The pool is the best baby sitter I ever met in my life because they jump in with their life jackets on and swim until they are wrinkled and even then, they'd stay in forever if I let them.
And then there is the summer garden suppers! I despise cooking in the heat and so we end up eating a lot of garden suppers, sandwiches of cucumbers and tomato with a bit of cream cheese, carrots, grilled corn on the cob. We have been making blueberry and peach crisps lately as well and oh, gracious, summer just shows off on those days.

ReplyDeleteWe hit up the splash park a lot around here and of course growing what we can in our little bit of a garden.
Tweeted and FBed. (is that even a word?)
ReplyDeleteOur family goes to the pool & we like to walk to local playgrounds. La la la la lulu.
ReplyDeleteI've been hoping for a chance for some lululemon swag!! Our family loves to get out in the canoe (his name is Gary!) and my husband just took the boys to the spray park near our place.
ReplyDeleteNow I may live across the world, but I do have a Canadian mailing address with my Mum and lots of nieces and nephews there with birthdays and christmas coming! Summer time - we hit the backyard to run with the chickens, play in our playhouse and paddle in our pool. If its not too hot - head over the BIG playground for hours of fun and a great nights sleep after! Hope I can win this won!
ReplyDeleteWe play outside instead of watching TV - I actually cancelled the cable back in the spring.
ReplyDeleteLove love Lululemon!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy our evening walks through the forest trails during the summer, and of course lots of outdoor play at the playground and waterpark. Always something to keep us moving!

Oh my goodness! I love Lululemon. :)
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy walks along the lake and always take a hiking vacation in Muskoka. We wait impatiently for the winter to end and as soon as we can we try to enjoy it. :)

ReplyDeleteWe hike... there are so many great trails/walks in the Fraser Valley :)
ReplyDeleteWe have no shortage of sights to see around our place. We walk to the baby-sitters, the playground, the waterfalls, the mountain ridges, etc. Well, when the wind has died down enough that you don't get blown away by it.
ReplyDeleteAh, the joys of living in a remote town...
Millie and I like to take walks after dinner. The bright afternoon sun and the cooler air are just right.
ReplyDeleteyowza! how'd you score such a sweet giveaway? count me in!

ReplyDeleteWe enjoy the beach as much as possible. Our favourite is Spanish Banks, especially when the tide is out - we can walk through all the shallow spots and keep on walking until we hit the edge of the water. Its awesome!

ReplyDeleteWe are all about the playground - how many new ones can we find each week? They alarm me with their boldness, exhaust me with their energy, and make me proud - so very proud - with each new accomplishment. Watching them grow is a delight - I fear the fleeting that is THIS summer at THESE ages (3 & 2). Next summer will be fun too, but oh how I am loving this one!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I love to pack our tiny in the ErgoBaby and go for a long city walk at twilight. She falls right asleep with the fresh air and we have sweet times talking. Perfect all around.
ReplyDeleteAnd I posted on FB!
ReplyDeleteWe try to go off the local beaten path and find playgrounds in our city that we haven't been to before. Bike riding, swimming and kite flying are also popular activities for our family!
ReplyDeletewe love walks and trips to the park!
ReplyDeleteThis is our first Canadian summer (from Zimbabwe) We go swimming, berry picking, long walks and the local playground is a hit with our 16 month old.So much to see and do ...so little time:)
ReplyDeleteWe like berry picking and have dinners outside. Everything seems to slow down a bit and we enjoy many leisurely evenings on the deck.
ReplyDeleteWe love wading in lakes and playing outside! Good old-fashioned fun. I've never had anything from lululemon so I thought I'd enter!
ReplyDeleteI have a 3.5 yr old and a three month old. She sleeps in the shade and he plays at the splash park, runs in the yard or helps me in the veggie garden. I drink LOTS of coffee.
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids, but all my friends do, so we spend our summers going for walks all over the place - the zoo, the park, wherever fits.
ReplyDeleteAnd in between, I squeeze in yoga classes to keep me all stretched out and relaxed and ready to wander the city with my friends and their kiddos!
Camping (walk everywhere), biking, swimming, playing! Love summer!
ReplyDeleteWe always spend time outdoors. We jog every morning, then we do gardening, go swimming and play at the playground..

We love running and playing in our own yard and down by the beach. We also take advantage of the nice weather by doing as many errands as we can by walking.
ReplyDeleteMy family likes to go swimming in our friend's pool and take long sunday walks. <3
ReplyDeletewould love to win, live in Germany but my family are all in Canada and we'd make good use of it! In Ontario at the moment and our family has loved all the playing outside on the farm, swimming in Lake Erie and enjoying the real sand beaches here!
ReplyDeleteIn the summer, we hike up a very long wharf in Gibsons to the ice cream store. Oh, and back on the island, we hike up a very big hill to Keats Camps where we get an ice cream.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget heading to Barnabas Camp, where we hike up a monster hill to get a mocha milkshake.
Thank you for the Lulu. I look forward to it in anticipation.
Sooz
We walk our dog Daisy on all of the amazing North Shore trails. We also try to spend lots of time at the pool in the summertime, but it's been tough to do so this year with the cold weather we had in July
ReplyDeleteWe love anything that can be done outside - swimming, biking, hiking - you name it! Nothing beats summer!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT giveaway! THANKS! *fingers crossed*
Mostly swimming and our daily trips to the park....rain or shine!
ReplyDeleteWe go for walks, play at various parks and in our backyard and once a week we go to the baseball diamond to watch my husband and his siblings play baseball. By limiting TV and encouraging play we hope that our kids always stay active and enjoy the outdoors.

ReplyDeletefirst little one on the way! lots of walking, swimming and yoga to stay active.
ReplyDeleteMy family stays active by canoeing/kayaking and hitting the beaches, spray parks and jungle-gym parks all summer long (mostly mornings)... in winter it's the x-country ski trails in slightly more clothing! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy boys like to ride their bikes while I run (training for a 10km run!) and my little guy goes in the stroller. I also joined a local mommy bootcamp class where we work out 3 days a week.
ReplyDeleteI shared it on my facebook page as well!

I *like to* jog and ride bike to stay active ...but sadly it doesn't happen as often as i'd like it too:)
ReplyDeleteI've heard nothing but praises for Lululemon, but can't bring myself to spend so much money for sweatpants!
ReplyDeleteBut I think I would love to play badminton and bike ride (my favorite summer activities) in lululemon apparel :)
We watch sunsets when the weather has cooled off and the girls are still too active to go to bed. See how the sun goes to bed? Now we should too.
ReplyDeleteWe go for walks, ride bikes and play at the park:)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy taking our son swimming and to the waterpark on a nice sunny day.
ReplyDeleteTrying to stay active with three kids ages three and under is no small challenge. We enjoy walks to the park and going to baseball one night a week. We also just purchased a play structure so that on days when it's just to hard to get away from the house, the kids are still able to be active outside.
ReplyDeleteI love taking my Grandson for walks around our local pond where we look at the ducks together.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted about this!
ReplyDeleteWe go to the public pool!
ReplyDeleteWe go to the two lakes, swim in our pool, pick fruit, play in the parks and play tourist in our area (amazing what people miss in their own back yard).
ReplyDeletePacking a lunch and then jumping on our bikes and going to the splash pad for the afternoon!
ReplyDeleteWe love local playgrounds, waterparks, streams and lakes. Our boys could spend a whole morning throwing rocks into the water.
ReplyDeleteShared on Facebook :-)
